Thomas Shipley
(VICE PRESIDENT)

Northern California native Mr. Thomas Shipley has had an expansive career in real estate for over thirty years. He has a tremendous amount of hands-on experience in every phase of the complicated commercial real estate process. Previously, Tom led site acquisitions, development, tenant lease negotiations, build-outs, asset management, broker communications, financial analysis, and ultimately, the exit or disposition of an institutional quality commercial real estate portfolio. He now leverages his detailed knowledge from the ownership perspective to provide cost-effective solutions for the firm’s clientele. His focus is on the exclusive representation of entities that use real estate for their business, whether it’s a lease or purchase of property. As a skilled tenant/buyer advocate, Tom strategically aligns our client’s business drivers to develop and then implement the preferred process to obtain the most favorable transaction.

His experience includes leases for companies ranging from local start-ups to international corporations with requirements that have exceeded 100,000 square feet.

Upon earning an MBA with a real estate emphasis from UC Berkeley in 1986, Tom worked for a national commercial real estate developer in San Francisco and subsequently was Executive Vice President of a prominent investor/developer in Northern California with a portfolio valuation approaching one billion dollars. In this long-term position, he was primarily responsible for the leasing of 700,000 square feet of office space, and the development of 220,000 square feet of office/R&D in multiple projects. In addition, he had a central role in the acquisition and disposition of hundreds of millions of dollars of commercial real estate on the West Coast.

Tom’s years of experience leading lease and purchase/sale negotiations, asset management, property development, and oversight of the design and construction of tenant improvements allow him to add significant value to both the creation of each client’s unique real estate strategy, and ultimately its implementation.

Mr. Shipley earned his undergraduate degree and graduated cum laude from UCLA, and has been a licensed California real estate broker for 20+ years.

In his “spare” time, Tom’s many interests in addition to family, include golf, travel, investing, and sports.

Our Beginnings

Stephen Polito and Douglas Hubert first met in 1985 at Marcus & Millichap. After forging a strong working relationship and a shared passion for the real estate industry, they decided to start their own company. Relying on their combined 70+ years of knowledge and experience in commercial real estate, Steve and Doug founded SABRE Real Estate Group in 2007. Steve and Doug strive to ensure that every client is provided the personal attention and resources necessary to meet the changing needs of their business in a timely manner, at minimal cost, and with recognized risks. This mission—and the desire to provide value added services and form lasting relationships with every client—drives their business. Along with their similar beliefs, Steve and Doug's individual strengths help contribute to the company's success. Steve's past corporate background, in-depth understanding of leasing, both retail and corporate, and his innate ability for negotiation are assets for any client. Doug's inherent ability to envision creative solutions, offer a unique perspective on projects, and his ability to approach, analyze and interpret various markets makes a significant contribution to any project.
